Lovely Sprecs and halloween hookipa pictures from yesterday

Hookipa halloween

To day again considering Hookipa, but a bit big waves for me, to light wind and to many surfers (10 mans rule) Then considering Kuau, and to day again a bit to light wind, witch was a bit disappointing because the conditions there looks ok for me.
Headed then to Sprecs for smuuuuuth lovely windsurf with my 5,3 in a bit too much onshore waves, but for me some good sets to have fun and practice in, even got several rides, and was even washed sometimes.
Are still practising tacks. Sometimes it goes good. I do like this:
Fast speed, take out back foot of footstrap and place it behind the front foot, then heals down, and then frontfoot mowing right in front of mast, then “try” to jump around mast. Works sometimes, but the jump part is tricky. If some readers have some good advice, please let me know.

Light wind sprecks

Paal and me started the day with consider hookipa, but to light wind for us so we drove down to kuahu, same there with to light wind, then headed to sprecs and rigged 5,3. But the wind who was there when we arrived sort of passed out. After waiting for wind, Paal decided to go to kihei (se paal’s report). I stayed and the wind picked up a bit , enough for light wind sailing with exercising in light wind tacks.

Sprecs Maui 18.10.08

We were looking around today at different spots. Finally we decided to go out on Sprecs. Was a really nice surf there, wind was up and down, maybe knee to wrist high small waves. The waves could had more power but was absolutely possible to ride and take up to 3 bottomturns on. The wind was up and down but my 5,3 worked mostly very well. The wind suddenly died out around 15.30 I think (I have no clock) probably because of a local low pressure, with little rain. Must say it was strange to windsurf in Rain ☺ The forecast looks well now, wind everyday, and north swell coming later in the next week, probably on Thursday and Friday. Have not tome to more blog now..are going out in Paia for a couple of beers at Jacks. The best place to go out here when it’s Friday. Took a couple of pictures today, so sorry no actions photos, had not any time to that. Anyway here is a coupe in the web album (click on picture)

Sprecs, Mathias at hookipa, bbq at quatro

Have not time for much text today. Have been on BBQ party at Quatro shop, lots of nice people everybody talking about the big swell who is coming tomorrow evening and on Tuesday: gone be huge, one say 6-8 feet..and next one says 10. The big swell is really the mingling shat talk over here, everybody is talking about it.
Today really nice windsurf at sprecs. Some wind swell sometimes, possible to ride. Was first on with 5,3 later 4,7 even 4,7 sometimes lightly overpowered, could used 4,2. After that driving back to house and should then look at hookipa stopped there and Mathias was to mush tempted. And had his first time at Hookipa ☺

Was up early in the morning to pick up a long board at Quatro shop. Drove down to hookipa and met paal there. He had already had a session out there and was only waiting to give me luxury guide out at pavilions. Was very glad for that guide. Was fist very sceptical with going out there with all the locals and so on, and I asked Paal: are the any chance that I get injured out there, and paal answered, if you get injured now I will buy you steak at restaurants every day rest of the trip, in the meaning there was really small waves. So with these words there was no way back, and after 5 min I was laying out there waiting for small sets to come. After the surf we had a shill out at hookipa and I then headed to Sprecklesville right on 11.00 o’clock and was one of the first out on the water. Paal was on water little later. I used my 5,3 sail and as usual my 76 litre board. This day the trade was definitive back again, and sometimes the 5,3 could be a little too big, but not overpowered. There were people sailing with all from 4,4 up to around 5,3. But there is still no swell yet. But at sprecs there is some windswell, sometimes possible to do a turn on, but quite onshore. For me I like best to windsurf upwind above the Shelly reef close to the beach. There are on days like this with enough wind some waves o find up there. And about the rumour that it is crowded at Maui, I was sometimes totally alone there upwinded and just felt a joy when someone joined me. From the beach when it was many on the water I counted about 15 ☺ From the forecast, there will be wind tomorrow as well. Looking forward to it. It will then be nice windsurf again, and now together with Mathias from Goteborg who arrived today. I have taken a few pictures today, click on the beach picture to get to my web album. Aloha

Sprecs Maui 10/10/08 10:37 AM

After Paal and mine sprecs session we met Francisco and Kieth rigging up brand new 2009 Goya sails. Francisco with the new sail at the picture below. They look extremely nice. I have asked Lalo Goya About some more info about the new sail, so far I have heard they have made them in a new way who make hem even more solid. I am not sure but I think they make them in a mould. If I get some info I blog about it so stay tuned ☺
