Ok, here we go again with some text. I don’t know how many blog readers I have left now, but about writing, when I was back home in Norway, there was no time for writing...I was writing on an subject book on my work witch had a deadline, and for me the creativity must be focused one place at a time. And the windsurf back home in Norway was for me not so mush to write about or for readers to read about but there was many super nice days with all the good friends on the water back home. So then linked her, one of the reasons for not blogging at Maui so far. I have bought me a Canon 7D witch is not only nice to take pictures with it is also nice to shoot video with. I am so so happy with the camera. I have then made a movie from Hookipa on the big day 26 Sep 1010. The quality of the material ended up so good that I decided to offer some work in editing a good windsurf video in the way I want to see a windsurf video. I my opinion we also need all the videos with quick shifts and hard music with spectacularly moves, but I felt there was not so many videos out there showing the pure nature and communication between the windsurfer and the wave. To be honest my biggest inspiration to my amateur windsurf movie is the pro film thewindsurfingmovie I, I have not seen thewindsurfingmovie II yet. One of the scenes I have to see again and again is for sure the opening scene with the back loop and push loop..filmed from helicopter, and from an super smuth and shifting angel, and so suitable music. The other favorite scene in windsurfing movie I is from Morocco...the sand the wave and again the choice of music. So then with that influence I made a video edited it with quite many 50 fps filmed slow motion clips, made it as a sort of presentation on different sailors and a presentation of hookipa on a big day. I also offered a lot of work to find the right music to the film, and have got many good feedbacks on the choices. For me the music has so much to say in a windsurf movie like this. I think electronica like trentemoller have the right 3 dimensional contents that fits the 3 dimensional wave, with depths’ and mystic :) anyway enough of how I was thinking when made the movie the true artists in the movie are the windsurfers. The cool thing is that the video ended up sort of like a hit, now seen by ...wait let me check 9994..soon 10000, and that is in 4,5 days...so I must have done something right...the cool part is also that some forums are discussing the movie :) I have sort of lost control over the movie…it is linked on so many sites. The bad part about this nice movie , how will it be possible to make a good movie next time…ok advice to my selves, just relax and have fun with it . I am not afraid of saying that I am good in things, and I know I am good in editing if I have the right material, and I think the film ended up hopefully with some art involved in it. Butt ho be honest I wish I was as good wave rider as I am to edit. Anyway there are still some cool projects to come, I can’t right now say what it is. The filming have given me much practise I now can use, but I didn't know it chould end like a hit, so it is impotant to forget that part and next time try to make it in the way you want it to be. The paradoxical is that I am maybe one ofe the last to embed the movie to this site,my ovn blog :)

Back on Maui

I am then on Maui! It is soooooo niiice to be back. Here one pix taken early in the morning from the window of the place I live here. The another picture is from last year taken from a car driving by Ho’okipa.

The travel went more than well. This time my flight was with American Airlines and for me it worked so good. My first anxious was that the flight was with an mistake booked with British Airways in the first flight, but it was AA who have the hole flight so it went ok. As you know BA have this not so nice roles for windsurfers: BA baggage policy (click on the Sporting equipment at the bottom of the site) But even with those roles I could check in my 3 sails 2 masts and a boom without any question and I don’t had to pay anything or it, they just took my seilbag right there at the check inn and gave me a big smile. When I was at LA airport after a short line with security check and answer on question “why stay so long at Maui” I found the sailbag right away, and when I found it my another bag came by on the band. After that I could only take the bags around the corner and drop it right away, and next flight was in the same terminal. So this time I don’t had to carry all the bags all around the airport. This time as well I slept during almost all the flights, the last flight (around 5,30 hours) I fell to sleep almost right away, and wake up when it was 45 min before arrival. :-) This time I also tested out to try to talk me up to business class, I did it with a big big smile, and in fact I felt they was motivated to do it and had a look at the computer for it but it was over booked, so I had to travel on “instead use the money on windsurf gear” class! :-) When I was awake and on the airports I met a lot of nice people to talk to who made the travel a lot shorter.

No wind today, but swell

There was no windsurf today for us. Some few were out in really light wind and in my opinion quite big waves at Secret, Kuahu and Lanes. To light wind for me.
But so far no problem with some days to rest and get prepared for swell and wind for several days later in the in following week. Are rely looking forward to it.

Exploring Maui, Hookipa lookout, and Maui nature

Was huge waves from big swell to day. No wind, and definitive to big waves for me to surf :-)

After all it was nice to have a rest day after 6 days in row with windsurf and 2 times smal wave longboard surf. Then it was time for a exploring Maui day. Firs stop was hookipa lookout se web album (click on the picture)

I am now at MAUI :-)))))

Finely at Maui ☺I am now at lolo's place (picture) Was a bit trouble and mess on the Oslo airport. The check inn did not go so smooth as last year. This time I had as well to pay for the board, 200 usd. I feel a bit screwed about this. My luggage had a weight on only 12 kg and the board about 20 kg. When I was paying for the board, next to me he was people with another kind of special luggage who paid about 30 usd. Why is the charge of the surfboard so high? I don’t like the feel of random outcome on this matter. And this time they did not pay any attention on the weight of the board bag ? So after a delay in the flight to Frankfurt and extremely fast run to the gate for flight to LA, the air flight went really good. I allso met the norwagian west coast windsurfer Paal at the airplane. Felled to sleep above Greenland, and when I wake up about 6 or 7 hours? later it was 45 min to LA. After that nice flight from LA to Maui, find the renting car and drove to Lalos place when I am sitting now ☺ One problem is that my luggage did not make the trip and are somewhere around on it selves, on a kind of luggage holyday, meeting other luggage’s. I hope I will have he luggage tomorrow. Lolo will borrow me some cool surf shorts and surf equipment, boom an so on. So tomorrow by the new sails and so on, and hopefully some kanaha windsurf ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺

Maui 2008, 5 weeks.

I will this year as well go to Maui, and this time for 5 weeks.
We are so far 2 from Norway, me in 5 weeks and a windsurfing friend from vest of Norway are going to stay 2 month, and as well a windsurfing friend from sweeden stayng in 17 days.
Are now realy realy looking forward to come there again to windsurf in souch nice conditions, just to be on the nice Maui, with all the nice wather adicted people.

I realy love this video, I have a look at it severel times pr day now as a soft preparation...the clip describes in many ways a relaxing and fun sailing I feal I can assosiate with. I was on upper last year in conditions like this. Looking forward to try it out again:
