I don’t know how many blog readers I have left now, but about writing, when I was back home in Norway, there was no time for writing...I was writing on an subject book on my work witch had a deadline, and for me the creativity must be focused one place at a time. And the windsurf back home in Norway was for me not so mush to write about or for readers to read about but there was many super nice days with all the good friends on the water back home. So then linked her, one of the reasons for not blogging at Maui so far. I have bought me a Canon 7D witch is not only nice to take pictures with it is also nice to shoot video with. I am so so happy with the camera. I have then made a movie from Hookipa on the big day 26 Sep 1010. The quality of the material ended up so good that I decided to offer some work in editing a good windsurf video in the way I want to see a windsurf video. I my opinion we also need all the videos with quick shifts and hard music with spectacularly moves, but I felt there was not so many videos out there showing the pure nature and communication between the windsurfer and the wave. To be honest my biggest inspiration to my amateur windsurf movie is the pro film thewindsurfingmovie I, I have not seen thewindsurfingmovie II yet. One of the scenes I have to see again and again is for sure the opening scene with the back loop and push loop..filmed from helicopter, and from an super smuth and shifting angel, and so suitable music. The other favorite scene in windsurfing movie I is from Morocco...the sand the wave and again the choice of music. So then with that influence I made a video edited it with quite many 50 fps filmed slow motion clips, made it as a sort of presentation on different sailors and a presentation of hookipa on a big day. I also offered a lot of work to find the right music to the film, and have got many good feedbacks on the choices. For me the music has so much to say in a windsurf movie like this. I think electronica like trentemoller have the right 3 dimensional contents that fits the 3 dimensional wave, with depths’ and mystic :) anyway enough of how I was thinking when made the movie the true artists in the movie are the windsurfers. The cool thing is that the video ended up sort of like a hit, now seen by ...wait let me check 9994..soon 10000, and that is in 4,5 days...so I must have done something right...the cool part is also that some forums are discussing the movie :) I have sort of lost control over the movie…it is linked on so many sites. The bad part about this nice movie , how will it be possible to make a good movie next time…ok advice to my selves, just relax and have fun with it . I am not afraid of saying that I am good in things, and I know I am good in editing if I have the right material, and I think the film ended up hopefully with some art involved in it. Butt ho be honest I wish I was as good wave rider as I am to edit. Anyway there are still some cool projects to come, I can’t right now say what it is. The filming have given me much practise I now can use, but I didn't know it chould end like a hit, so it is impotant to forget that part and next time try to make it in the way you want it to be. The paradoxical is that I am maybe one ofe the last to embed the movie to this site,my ovn blog :)<br /><br />To day super nice windsurf at uppers with my 4,7 and 81 L board. I have only time for some few words, but the pictures in the albums speak for themselves. To stand there at the cliff and look at the tow-in and the windsurfers is one of my biggest day in my life regarding a happening like a concert, an art exhibition, a Ibsen or Shakespeare play in the theater and so on. This surf and windsurfing at Jaws is some kind of art in my opinion. In its purity in communication with mother earth trough the big waves. It was so cool to see the tow-in surfers dynamic well synchronistic behavior. Ok enough of big words. About the pictures. It was a cind of difficult day with pictures. The day started with sun, but later it came a lot of rain and I had to put my camera away. And with the rein the wind arrived, so I don’t managed to take so many pictures of the windsurfers. The riders in the windsurf album of the name I know is Levi Siver, Francisco Porcella, Jason Polakow ..and some more I don’t remember the name on. Please mail me if I should add some names! The day started with a big expectation, we could almost feel the ground shake by the big waves hitting the reefs, there was jetskies in the water an a lot of helicopters buzzing around all over. Everybody had been taking about this day, And we had inside info from several pro windsurfers about when they was going to sail there. The peak of the swell was expected to be 20.00 o’clock so they tuned in to the session in the afternoon.<br /><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">A talked to Francisco Porcella the day before, and he was hoping for some pictures at Jaws, after the <a href="http://thehappysurfertormod.blogspot.com/2009/10/francisco-porcella-in-big-arial-at.html">big arial pictures</a> and <a href="http://thehappysurfertormod.blogspot.com/2009/10/big-arial-and-more-at-hookipa-21-okt-09.html">photo video montage</a> some weeks ago. :-) As I understood FP has done tow-in at Jaws before, but this was his first time on windsurfing board. I can not promise anything but maybe maybe I manage to have him as a guest writer on this blog about his experience of windsurfing jaws. I feel a bit stupid when writing this..a bit like a sports reporter…ref “what did you feel when you crossed the finish line as nr 1? Anyway I give it a try!<br /><br />“Edit ”: I am now happy to announce that we will get some cool words from Porcella about this day..keep up follow the blog..I will post his words probable tomorrow.<br /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://picasaweb.google.no/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.no&captions=1&noautoplay=1&hl=en_GB&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=http%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.no%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fthehappywindsurfer%2Falbumid%2F5408359502857475745%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26hl%3Den_GB" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" height="400" width="600"></embed><br /><br /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://picasaweb.google.no/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.no&noautoplay=1&hl=en_GB&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=http%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.no%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fthehappywindsurfer%2Falbumid%2F5408365841968227457%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26hl%3Den_GB" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" height="400" width="600"></embed><br /><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-82152251082728982352009-11-21T20:09:00.011-10:002010-03-14T14:47:17.031-10:00Find the right fin (s) to your board and save money Part 1<div style="text-align: justify;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRo3cm5eEeVDZmHKesa52gQ6qDI6QQFezz8kLVYrl-UyVS8k5x-76rsarST2gOReZJrftlS1Zb5xTKPtwmcI3kWqIw_pJtJKNSkkd_X8CRqI0SJ60bLF5OssitRWruxh0KT4GnSToYuvY/s1600/Quad+header.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 96px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRo3cm5eEeVDZmHKesa52gQ6qDI6QQFezz8kLVYrl-UyVS8k5x-76rsarST2gOReZJrftlS1Zb5xTKPtwmcI3kWqIw_pJtJKNSkkd_X8CRqI0SJ60bLF5OssitRWruxh0KT4GnSToYuvY/s400/Quad+header.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5406810297820162658" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: italic;">Have you purchased a lot of fins during your windsurf career you haven't found useful? </span> </div><div style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); text-align: justify;" class="im"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-style: italic;"> Have you got some bad advices from some windsurfing shops that will be off with some fins?</span><br /></div>That has happened to me. I have promised some pictures I took at honolua bay some days ago. I had plan with some sequences but I rather put out some of the highlights. First of all from a definitive <span style="font-weight: bold;">non</span> Honolua bay skilled surfer perspective that I am, I think the conditions that day was not epic at all. I have seen the waves there much much more cleaner and mush more in system. It had probable something to do with the direction of the swell? But the waves who was there was in what I could judge wery fast, and there was a loot of current in the water. And about epicness there was really some clean clean glassy waves there, as you can see from some of the pix it looks like the rider probable could check his hair style before the ride was over :-) There was only few paddle surfers in the water. If that was because of the messy waves or because of the current I don’t know. We sow a surfer paddling out at the point outside the last parking spot, and when he was in the water I think he mowed about 0,5 meter/min in paddling. When he finally got a ride, as he afterword called a shitty wave, I think he got a long one completely past the cave, and was driven back again by a car..and was going out again.. And about the tow in at Honolua bay this day, I think the few paddle surfers out there gave the opportunity to do some rides with the tow in. And again I don’t know why they did the tow in there, maybe because of a nice day to practice tow in and really tune in the communication between the surfer and the jetski driver, and then be prepared for bigger waves later. And I must admit I was impressed about their timing and communication for safe rides. About Jetski, I don’t know if I like them around. For me as a now in the start of being a real surfer I really have started to like the purity of it. For sure the trip here to Maui for me is mainly windsurf, but I most admit that after a surf session and when you have had a couple of nice rides, in small waves for me, you are in a state of mind with balance and calmness after a kind of clean communication with mother earth and the nature. But anyway, I must admit, if someone asked med, would you like to do some tow in? I will probable had said yes. But such an offer would have been unthinkable anyway, so I'm spared the dilemma, and I can keep myself on my 9" Kazuma performance board in small gentle waves and be a happy surfer in that way :-)<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-Bj01sqgRNALfhEfIjJd6JZ-iDd7UALl8FyZroMX__6tBRpfRTyDC9QdHOFCpT6lClKY4IW5UXsMWtwE3GflPKMj-Sc5E8BWLwaPHT_DfSkIbNq9jOYnpbG6W384cg0FgCGwIAv8LrpU/s1600/A+wave.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-Bj01sqgRNALfhEfIjJd6JZ-iDd7UALl8FyZroMX__6tBRpfRTyDC9QdHOFCpT6lClKY4IW5UXsMWtwE3GflPKMj-Sc5E8BWLwaPHT_DfSkIbNq9jOYnpbG6W384cg0FgCGwIAv8LrpU/s400/A+wave.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5405369540654437506" border="0" /></a>I know about the potential surfer windsurfer, and the windsurfer kite surfer conflict, but I don’t know about there is a potential conflict between tow in and paddle in surfers. But as you can see from pictures below I don’t think there was any grounds for conflict there. Everybody help out each other in the strong current.<br />So for me it was super cool to be there, watch the waves, watch the paddle surfers and be impressed of the timing and the speed in the tow in surf, and in my own opinion take some cool pictures, and as I could see the tow in surfers has so fun, clearly smiling form ear to ear…truly some happy surfers!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCfsWcShOP__fS-98e3Z_IhfHbB8kbtsY1LCaWXhOeQ6iofx29VGGdvEqz5Ep6r8K3gW64YfENEfAId4m_wNARjzsZH1nH6BUDBTWBvtCGki9XXl5qef_vu0SA9cbcFheyn6y9KZUad_0/s1600/Tow+in+help.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Super nice windsurf together with a windsurfing friend Florian at Upper Kanaha 2 days ago. I think it was my best up there, with the conditions, waves here, there and everywhere. Finally after so many sessions up there I now understand how it can be there on windswell days like this. I heard that Sprcks was filled up with a lot of pro windsurfers that day..take a look at pix on: <a href="http://www.photoshelter.com/c/mauiwatershoot/gallery/Sprecks-November-15th/G0000yqUkRf_DCiQ/">Mauiwatershoot</a><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Yester day super nice surf session at the southshore together with windsurf and surf friend Andrea and more, now in waves with a bit more power. Some nose dives when the waves was steap in the take off, but we got many nice rides.<br />And to day I tested out upper again with Petsch and Andrea. It was for me definitely no good day up there, and after brake I ended up at lower K together with Florian and Jim and for me I had ia super nice session there, super fun in small waves but some to turns on even up to 3 small bottom turns, even when the wind sometimes was quite gusty. Tomorrow hopefully there will be more swell coming.<br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-30317801486322240322009-11-13T00:45:00.009-10:002010-03-13T13:06:29.442-10:00Thunderstorm at Maui in the dark<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtB6zaqHcRk-r65cK7-EapuQjLRCIi-ORdZrdGj0NaD9hhzH_XuC5QE7SZP8JsCiUbkQaodHowEDbpFNahRPranSaRN-YTW92K4l_2N8L7gbvbw-NZRXWWo1XTkMyVkyi8VnLC7ACo4OY/s1600-h/Thunderstorm1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtB6zaqHcRk-r65cK7-EapuQjLRCIi-ORdZrdGj0NaD9hhzH_XuC5QE7SZP8JsCiUbkQaodHowEDbpFNahRPranSaRN-YTW92K4l_2N8L7gbvbw-NZRXWWo1XTkMyVkyi8VnLC7ACo4OY/s400/Thunderstorm1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403538324317138626" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">I manage to take some quite cool pictures of the sea at Maui during the thunderstorm this evening. The plan was to try to take a picture of a flash of lightening with a long exposure time on my camera. But I ended up with these pix ..maybe hard to understand but it is totally dark in the sea, and the light is from a flashes in the thunderstorm, and it gives the strange light. The pictures is not edited except the lightest one where I had to turn down the light in the pix. The lightening made it like sunlight in a short second and the thunder was so extreme that the ground was shaking.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">I am totally stoked about this nature experience</span><br /><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrMiCsDeJN1NnvMrn6X_Q3jIqWqVXle1k73fRoRcCDyYtREDNc24lZtfQ76iQa1CQjt8YECB5_FnLxJg8aVUmnQadYmtPuw9ItEP1aZ14cakra-nYaUuYFKW2hODkr9Y_Zu1sZE82Yaqc/s1600-h/Thunderstorm2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrMiCsDeJN1NnvMrn6X_Q3jIqWqVXle1k73fRoRcCDyYtREDNc24lZtfQ76iQa1CQjt8YECB5_FnLxJg8aVUmnQadYmtPuw9ItEP1aZ14cakra-nYaUuYFKW2hODkr9Y_Zu1sZE82Yaqc/s400/Thunderstorm2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403538450320261986" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZM4HkebPdSEXnmSoH9LKjSuzDMKofEYeH80VxdGOVrYo3lgosYiez-aH1csc7IazI2Yr1T8sFZ0wsLMMM61tF6_WfXWge7Ibkg2nHNL4PUMJAWirisojvR2EzaSEkkjJSEjbAH7vMZMw/s1600-h/Thunderstorm3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZM4HkebPdSEXnmSoH9LKjSuzDMKofEYeH80VxdGOVrYo3lgosYiez-aH1csc7IazI2Yr1T8sFZ0wsLMMM61tF6_WfXWge7Ibkg2nHNL4PUMJAWirisojvR2EzaSEkkjJSEjbAH7vMZMw/s400/Thunderstorm3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403538566360822674" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgucdz2vC0zhHJdfxaFNHjiLXcoc4RC9R_XBeJSv0IB4qKOtj4m_aaVN6iUmcYPE_b7oqfrBQmyGAuOmwUOBxu7pQWYmS_AP9ZHnKogLLN8XLvu9a6rsanVla709st806IsdjCNUUDU5kc/s1600-h/Thunderstorm4.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgucdz2vC0zhHJdfxaFNHjiLXcoc4RC9R_XBeJSv0IB4qKOtj4m_aaVN6iUmcYPE_b7oqfrBQmyGAuOmwUOBxu7pQWYmS_AP9ZHnKogLLN8XLvu9a6rsanVla709st806IsdjCNUUDU5kc/s400/Thunderstorm4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403538674487890978" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyOKXtyfPqQDOKT5t9RWP3KP29JQKnUnv0R5Dd8FJ4G0wI6nM2MvlNhyphenhyphenG8KESI8DRu0injND_JKgffUWYcs8aFT1lABPWCCOPxuWbR_iHg3i19hx_its04G3dMBABGUt0-aJ3zNMqK7cw/s1600-h/Thunderstorm5.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyOKXtyfPqQDOKT5t9RWP3KP29JQKnUnv0R5Dd8FJ4G0wI6nM2MvlNhyphenhyphenG8KESI8DRu0injND_JKgffUWYcs8aFT1lABPWCCOPxuWbR_iHg3i19hx_its04G3dMBABGUt0-aJ3zNMqK7cw/s400/Thunderstorm5.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403538789447150706" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-82735348411951794232009-11-11T22:03:00.013-10:002010-03-13T13:05:38.180-10:00Prefect Lower Kanaha day after day!<div style="text-align: justify;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuJJL_TcVy1lyICp9hyi5jnfvLti3QePGjLH9Xl_Y6fUZbo_dsFgtGCH2f5U7l1K_J_TLC_msOGS3Pexy7z9lRMxVIhjqn3E6w-JTepM_PeL0jlEeRBkOB7TyDKkOUX-HUJrJNpP_yhcU/s1600-h/You+are+never+alone+at+lower+kanaha.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuJJL_TcVy1lyICp9hyi5jnfvLti3QePGjLH9Xl_Y6fUZbo_dsFgtGCH2f5U7l1K_J_TLC_msOGS3Pexy7z9lRMxVIhjqn3E6w-JTepM_PeL0jlEeRBkOB7TyDKkOUX-HUJrJNpP_yhcU/s400/You+are+never+alone+at+lower+kanaha.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403126796130654130" border="0" /></a>Finaly time for some new post. I have not had time to post for a while, so much to do: “<span style="font-style: italic;">Sleep, eat, drive to Kanaha, rig up the gear in time before 11, windsurf , brake with food and water, windsurf, break with food and water, even more windsurf sessions, talk to all the nice people at Kanaha about the perfect ride you had on a shoulder on a wave, about a wave you missed because somebody dropped in on, about a kite who was weary close, about a nice kiter who helped you in to the shore, talk about windsurfing gear, and talk about how nice these days have been, then rig down the gear drive home make some food with lots of proteins, go to sleep dream about windsurf, and the same all over </span><span style="font-style: italic;">again </span><span style="font-style: italic;">next day</span>”<br />So as you understand we have had so so nice conditions now, even one day with mast high sets, but I think we in average have had around head high to logo about every day. Some few times we also have had some big sets coming even more than logo high. But sometimes, and particularly in the start of the wind period we had was it sometimes quite crowded. The picture above a windsurfing friend, <a href="http://www.petschmoser.ch/">Petsch</a> and his girlfriend Yvonne took of me point that. The title of the pix is “you are never alone at lower kanaha” And below 2 pictures of an another windsurfing friend Andrea with the blue NP zone sail. As you can understand you have to be observant with all the people around you, and you have to be extra concentrated to follow the roles in the waves.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEH2TreGD5S6r-8hFYEhnS416Flu4CY7YrQKv17OXbegTLhs6PhNZv3qW4qvGYu22t8KyPeMx_IIxvFjsOW7D9OuDOj3V0yoocATDrh2VT5B7wEbhve1lfuVwb8WUjNhxbEbMqtjAy7Hg/s1600-h/Kanaha1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 106px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEH2TreGD5S6r-8hFYEhnS416Flu4CY7YrQKv17OXbegTLhs6PhNZv3qW4qvGYu22t8KyPeMx_IIxvFjsOW7D9OuDOj3V0yoocATDrh2VT5B7wEbhve1lfuVwb8WUjNhxbEbMqtjAy7Hg/s400/Kanaha1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403128605405910962" border="0" /></a><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6FPdQ-TzUn46s8LdsY7o6aLFrfZ1bv_O9MRRVO3c39ACiFRgyAwMMG4VycuqLcrQ0KKCklyY9PkbYkrzh3LE0rkN0Ehc8NxyHPfAUX_Ezb5m5XIzv1bQBbIZNINyyB_Tkisx-DuKWRIo/s1600-h/Kanaha2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 114px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6FPdQ-TzUn46s8LdsY7o6aLFrfZ1bv_O9MRRVO3c39ACiFRgyAwMMG4VycuqLcrQ0KKCklyY9PkbYkrzh3LE0rkN0Ehc8NxyHPfAUX_Ezb5m5XIzv1bQBbIZNINyyB_Tkisx-DuKWRIo/s400/Kanaha2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403129222555376658" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">But the bad part is that not everybody follow the roles in the waves at kanaha so you can be quite stressed. But if you are clever you can find time on the day when it is not so crowded.. and that is during the morning and afternoon session. The windsurfing friend Petsch have now started to look at the clock if I arrive a bit late before 11 o’clock and then he say with an Swiss accent “you are late” with an slightly gruffness in the voice. But I have had my payback days when I have had my gear almost tuned up when he arrive and been able to say “you are late”<br /><div style="text-align: justify;">About my new Quarto quad boards, I am so in love with them, they work absolutely perfect for me. Some days I have used my 95 liter some days my 80 liter. I hope I soon have time to write some more about them at my quad board article series.<br /></div><br />So now rest day yesterday and surf at the south shore today, and probably surf tomorrow. It was in fact now wery wery good for the body, arms and mind to have some rest. It looks like we probable will get huge swell and wind on Friday. The forecast the following days also predict much wind. As I also have heard is that there is some lowpressure/highpressure disturbance south of Maui the mess up the normal wind. So my conclusion for that and that the forecast have changed a lot form hour to hour we can not be to secure that we will get wind as we hope for. But anyway when the wind suppose to arrive I think we can score with some windsurf if we really follow the conditions and goes on the water when the wind probable arrive, even if it’s only for some hours.<br /><br />So here in the end of the post a couple of pictures I took with my zoom lens of upper Kanaha a day we had mast high conditions. (I go Lower Kanaha on days like this)<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0AvtrXwyT9BCfjE8IHIaGCkDrX3V3BDrvgo9TLIpkessm3RuVw19GZJ-KyVGrH54-zOKKNkuStJusKyy9-R9pNM8WHrhhXj-iIHQPKYlyUt7aBpyqxerLkr17YXDfvupyhscJmhy9hAk/s1600-h/uppers1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0AvtrXwyT9BCfjE8IHIaGCkDrX3V3BDrvgo9TLIpkessm3RuVw19GZJ-KyVGrH54-zOKKNkuStJusKyy9-R9pNM8WHrhhXj-iIHQPKYlyUt7aBpyqxerLkr17YXDfvupyhscJmhy9hAk/s400/uppers1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403131287123355442" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq2bSiKN9MZB9841rN9ldJRB8VSw65kt69-VtEqaQLQKgGiJzGPpFH_WKKep7V62XP7KUZhv0VFbTLaZO4HTZ1JMyMjS8QzuqlZk3yoLDkaylGCdnpTOtNvHLpviXywHuOkOUQrOXmKDc/s1600-h/uppers2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 167px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq2bSiKN9MZB9841rN9ldJRB8VSw65kt69-VtEqaQLQKgGiJzGPpFH_WKKep7V62XP7KUZhv0VFbTLaZO4HTZ1JMyMjS8QzuqlZk3yoLDkaylGCdnpTOtNvHLpviXywHuOkOUQrOXmKDc/s400/uppers2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403131380540109522" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRaA4CwjsgL2zaUQELsq3G20XV4bjmW-JNLBzD1oEnuxbCgfZZ35B9manzYdKrHTVJ7ULdnHCUZeslgLG1Nkxn3NaXnStBxykNKsn3KBO1G8dAPajGzi6KRIYUnwEf26aPEb-5HZKMk0w/s1600-h/uppers3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 154px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRaA4CwjsgL2zaUQELsq3G20XV4bjmW-JNLBzD1oEnuxbCgfZZ35B9manzYdKrHTVJ7ULdnHCUZeslgLG1Nkxn3NaXnStBxykNKsn3KBO1G8dAPajGzi6KRIYUnwEf26aPEb-5HZKMk0w/s400/uppers3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403131473732692994" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy98qytl6Uf0u7sSwwE3hd6Ja13FQ8hAlDp0kQjQv78mjev1SeqVodbntAdiR9cYoq0ytbNxBi_8MGH4qZ9Ul4Vovj2dfidPl3Q7FxH8REpOhqw5vzf9OU43sT63_Zl5cdx30Vo5zRRVM/s1600-h/uppers4.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 124px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy98qytl6Uf0u7sSwwE3hd6Ja13FQ8hAlDp0kQjQv78mjev1SeqVodbntAdiR9cYoq0ytbNxBi_8MGH4qZ9Ul4Vovj2dfidPl3Q7FxH8REpOhqw5vzf9OU43sT63_Zl5cdx30Vo5zRRVM/s400/uppers4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403131839224868770" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-43684853281566415172009-11-02T22:19:00.008-10:002010-03-13T13:02:02.834-10:00Perfect afternoon session at Lower K<div style="text-align: justify;">It was typical day you wait for wind. It was side onshore conditions and gusty light wind with sort of messy waves. I was on for a long time and I almost packed my gear to get for a surf somewhere instead. But I am so glad I didn’t ..in the end of the day the direction suddenly turned to slightly side off and some nice nice sets was coming in, even some few probable logo high sets. I am now a extreamely happy windsurfer, my self confidence out there have made a huge progress last days, and all my fear factor advisers in my head are now totally fired from the central brain, and I gos out in the middle of the break with no fear. Alex a good windsurfer at Kanaha is a witness to that when he was coming in on a maybe logo high…he was only waiting for me coming over it on my way out to do the ride on the wave,, and he sow me go vertical up the face and it break down right behind me. It was so cool the afternoon session, with a lot of good riders to be inspired of. For my selves I have had a huge progress in the wavriding past days.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />But when staying at Maui for long time and with so mush windsurf, it can happened that you do mistakes, and for me it happened again this day, my second fault during my staying on Maui this time. I remember a story a windsurf friend told me from Australia that there was a windsurfer there they called “drop in king” for me I don’t want to be a drop in king, I want to be a gentleman in the waves, but today I did a mistake. I did not remember exactly the situating but I probable jibed on a wave wish the already was a windsurfer on, and started to ride it and forced for my right on the wave because I was up on the wave, and that was not gentle. I really try to do my best , but at kanaha there is sometimes crowded and people do a lot of horrible things, and you can get confused. Ok, anyway and again so sorry to the female super skilled windsurfer for my fault, I give you all my waves next time. Glad I was forgiven at the beach after the session. For the maybe non windsurfing readers..stealing a wave is a serious crime! If someone wonder about rooles in waves read <a href="http://obxbeachlife.blogspot.com/2008/07/wave-etiquette-follow-up-to-beginning.html">this article</a> on Bill's OBX Beach Life blog.<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Ok so no pictures from today, but here a pix of Kieth at Ho’okipa yesterday. I really like the colors and the water drops in the picture. The Goya sail looks so so cool, and there are so many sailors on with them at ho’okipa.<br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyByWVVjmliaXx9AHTJW2ezJmWbD7iM3gnNfbnZR2vZwWMG_ldRFHOPVaVNe1KE84aptJwEfxoiZC5IlKDW8fSsbpL5wz_sp3Hp4sQWnch6B14UF_eEYovQxG6HWne2z1uiLujlbLRf3w/s1600-h/Kieth2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyByWVVjmliaXx9AHTJW2ezJmWbD7iM3gnNfbnZR2vZwWMG_ldRFHOPVaVNe1KE84aptJwEfxoiZC5IlKDW8fSsbpL5wz_sp3Hp4sQWnch6B14UF_eEYovQxG6HWne2z1uiLujlbLRf3w/s400/Kieth2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399800969240579266" border="0" /></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-87445108160530995092009-11-01T22:00:00.015-10:002010-03-13T13:00:35.897-10:00Big Ho'okipa 1 Nov 09<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="color: rgb(153, 102, 51); font-weight: bold;">Josh Stone</span></span><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh114JUD1kXT40SAYy7XtXEsT1rkSIcjoY0MGbkB854I0eQPGjrMC982X9zgN1C3eIHq2ZS-2hmbXovXbyl6ycLfV3iJ3Hka5ML9nOKy33RmdSZwojQ_YwgZb-psdhyphenhyphenUldRAhcdr46Xpjs/s1600-h/josh+stone.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh114JUD1kXT40SAYy7XtXEsT1rkSIcjoY0MGbkB854I0eQPGjrMC982X9zgN1C3eIHq2ZS-2hmbXovXbyl6ycLfV3iJ3Hka5ML9nOKy33RmdSZwojQ_YwgZb-psdhyphenhyphenUldRAhcdr46Xpjs/s400/josh+stone.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399420638801388338" border="0" /></a>Photo session at big ho'okipa today, before I went Lover K in descent maybe around logo sets, with my 80 liter quad board and 4,7m2 sail. Somone told me that some of the waves was mast high at lover Kanaha, but the waves I found was not that big (maybe they have a shorter mast than my 4 m mast) :-).<br />But first I filled up my memory card at Ho'okipa. I am glad I only have one memory card, if I had more, it would be to mush work to go trough all the photos. I will put more cool pictures on my blog later on, have not time…must sleep and rest for more wind and swell tomorrow. I suffer a bit of TMS (to mush surf)<br /><br />This post was not in special meant as a teaser to keep readers follow my blog…it is just that I want to put some work in some albums with different riders. Maybe I post them in separate posts later on. I also took some pictures of some kiters at Ho’okipa. I don’t know how popular it is with them there, I thought lanes was more their spot, anyway they probable know what they are doing, and for me it was cool to take some photos of them.<br /><div style="text-align: center;">I just love to be at Maui, “another day in paradise!!!!!”<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Here some more few photoes from the day:<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="color: rgb(153, 102, 51); font-weight: bold;">Camille Juban</span></span><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_va0cl2XLnqLuyU9xOmtUCWIMc7iEmmH_BMe6NBzKnU2Qt-EwFJ33BC8ABftFjmRGX1MQL-svOSvx_IH8lXj866Rklyf4-dTGxMAHLIelibyhWOhv5uw7GfRShItrYf4EVBcKSg69p8M/s1600-h/cj.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_va0cl2XLnqLuyU9xOmtUCWIMc7iEmmH_BMe6NBzKnU2Qt-EwFJ33BC8ABftFjmRGX1MQL-svOSvx_IH8lXj866Rklyf4-dTGxMAHLIelibyhWOhv5uw7GfRShItrYf4EVBcKSg69p8M/s400/cj.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399420888367453954" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="color: rgb(153, 102, 51); font-weight: bold;"><br />Levi</span></span><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNL3kUVQUFm5MkQj7UgzBsHY6gcNoaVwelNHVHgtOTX8y_HGVefzNDNsPuJ0HDh5srauKz9Cw_JjVYDd2hBEaW-MgUzGky4JGq4uCO25mnhAJSrkYmgJt-BO2tvLocCCXpfoE8c5xlrok/s1600-h/levi.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNL3kUVQUFm5MkQj7UgzBsHY6gcNoaVwelNHVHgtOTX8y_HGVefzNDNsPuJ0HDh5srauKz9Cw_JjVYDd2hBEaW-MgUzGky4JGq4uCO25mnhAJSrkYmgJt-BO2tvLocCCXpfoE8c5xlrok/s400/levi.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399421139018956370" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="color: rgb(153, 102, 51); font-weight: bold;"><br />Kiter</span></span><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEXMl23VfNpuX3tMuw02HfkXiP1swL-qHlkxPsb5dVVjLj9tulLCqq3kJtMWsypq65ECFk0InZ_UyXcUqSJsI16OXamkJVJgELMPWNM9GFdXvTNHl8_WiUo5jaLbyfzR1ZIZ3NDd7P5GM/s1600-h/kiter.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 231px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEXMl23VfNpuX3tMuw02HfkXiP1swL-qHlkxPsb5dVVjLj9tulLCqq3kJtMWsypq65ECFk0InZ_UyXcUqSJsI16OXamkJVJgELMPWNM9GFdXvTNHl8_WiUo5jaLbyfzR1ZIZ3NDd7P5GM/s400/kiter.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399421405125666722" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="color: rgb(153, 102, 51); font-weight: bold;"><br /></span></span><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="color: rgb(153, 102, 51); font-weight: bold;">Surfer in front of waves at Lanes</span></span><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrODN54V_y8zpSC6pxNb0jwsFVRaiUk2r9h_2uNYXdAfsj4IyZG1JCJKKScyUix1wBC8YLpQOZM6Tw3QLXgr9iY4t4DMS9pOScmfuo3AOkYAYXn5Ca4Y6g7mVzG3IaSdgbtQs7gdYBWlo/s1600-h/big+ho%27okipa:lanes.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrODN54V_y8zpSC6pxNb0jwsFVRaiUk2r9h_2uNYXdAfsj4IyZG1JCJKKScyUix1wBC8YLpQOZM6Tw3QLXgr9iY4t4DMS9pOScmfuo3AOkYAYXn5Ca4Y6g7mVzG3IaSdgbtQs7gdYBWlo/s400/big+ho%27okipa:lanes.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399421605380672034" border="0" /></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-85573023059384226132009-10-30T22:29:00.005-10:002010-03-13T12:56:47.172-10:00Perfect Kanaha, Perfect quad 95 liter board.<div style="text-align: justify;">There is in fact no time to blogging now, so much to do, surf, windsurf and to Halloween party tomorrow. But I have to blog about this day. I try to do it short…need time to digest the impressions from the for me perfect day, and I need good sleep for preparation for more wind and swell tomorrow,<br /><br />First of all sorry to al windsurfers that I don’t had time to anny photos today. I have got a lot of feedback on my photos, and all the pro windsurfers have starting to nag me..”heei Tormod take a picture of me,,,,see here I do a bacloop wit no hands…see here I do an new move..and so on” as you readers understand a joke about they asking me to take pictures, what’s in fact is true Is that I have got some good feedback from some pro windsurfers about the pictures, and I am so happy for that. I have also had nice discussion with the blogger and windsurfer <a href="http://mauisurfreport.blogspot.com/">Giampaulo</a>, He have a cool discussion on his blog about the <a href="http://mauisurfreport.blogspot.com/2009/10/little-bit-of-more-environment.html">Boom height</a>. Cool my pictures have been helpful. And thanks to Giampaulo for sharing a maybe secret surf spot and for the info about the importance of surfing, as a basic for windsurf in waves. I have the last days before the super windsurf today had a huuuuge step and progress in surf now with sooo many takeoffs and soo may rides. I am later going to write an article about how to deal with fear in waves and the article will definitely involve a importance part of surf. I am now so in love with my <a href="http://www.kazumasurf.com/">Kazuma</a> performace longboard, I was so happy to get from Jørgen, thanks Jørgen, the board is so abselutely perfect for me!!!!!!!!<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Ok, so it was not time for pictures today, so I found a picture of Kieth at Ho’okipa 21 Okt, from my big big picture archive ..Hope that’s good enough.<br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsdN1gUruR4bMjSghFMTvsEvQR-NUQWPVsxePBnC9gccGGHCo0gMHiyVWkHSzm1aGUGE1KVOHvd8JhZ4JfIgH2JoCmZqLcLTj4Oxs2gmxFlfptIW29oNU17iAJU0UD5ogFPZWCtOYsmWE/s1600-h/Kieth.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsdN1gUruR4bMjSghFMTvsEvQR-NUQWPVsxePBnC9gccGGHCo0gMHiyVWkHSzm1aGUGE1KVOHvd8JhZ4JfIgH2JoCmZqLcLTj4Oxs2gmxFlfptIW29oNU17iAJU0UD5ogFPZWCtOYsmWE/s400/Kieth.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398680507678139458" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">And then about today..I think this day, ye right now this day was my best day on a windsurf board ever in my life. My boddy is now so fitted and longlasting after days with surf and windsurf so It is so eacy for me to stay out there in long time, today in 3 long sessions. For me Kanaha was so perfect as it could be with sets about up to logo High, some people thought it was bigger but I think logo is correct. Some of the waves had a tendency to close out, but if you found the right one you could easy go on the sholder and take turns all the way from the channel down to kite beach. My quarto 95 litre board is so on my team, it works so absolutely perfect. The board kind of do what you think and want to do..not more not less.<br />But it was also a day with a lot of people on the water so, it was sometimes a bit to crowded. There was also many horrible and close maneuvers as drop in on the waves, people loffing up against you when you are on the top of the wave, people going really close and so on. But I did a mistake today as well. I must admit I was a bit to mush focused on some swell sets coming in and was taking a jybe right in front of a swell, and forgot to see me enough back before the jybe and there it was a windsurf friend coming right behind me. ..It went ok, but I hate to do mistakes like that…so sorry.<br /><div style="text-align: center;">So then more wind and swell tomorrow.<br /></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-63719338301187299542009-10-27T21:56:00.006-10:002010-03-13T12:56:18.125-10:00Tough windsurfing women at Ho’okipa<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSgO3L3pEtv_x5noVVXipKUAc6zenCfD8S5kLbs3O5KGfGWY97A0CLCVKKBb5J_8LLbABSLsTO2seCRJqmxj-kMOcsl4zEYYTH0G1C-VdpzIVsLpfi6GJMKPASyMKPe_dF-54GxTMu4nc/s1600-h/Ho'okipa.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 508px; height: 339px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSgO3L3pEtv_x5noVVXipKUAc6zenCfD8S5kLbs3O5KGfGWY97A0CLCVKKBb5J_8LLbABSLsTO2seCRJqmxj-kMOcsl4zEYYTH0G1C-VdpzIVsLpfi6GJMKPASyMKPe_dF-54GxTMu4nc/s400/Ho'okipa.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397557078457591474" border="0" /></a><br />I promised more photos from 21 okt. So here you have a album with some of the tough women, at Ho’okipa. As you can see, there is not only the guys who goes down the line in big waves.<br /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://picasaweb.google.no/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.no&noautoplay=1&hl=en_GB&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=http%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.no%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fthehappywindsurfer%2Falbumid%2F5397546792835650001%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26hl%3Den_GB" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" height="400" width="600"></embed><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />For me lately lots of new experiences. Was out on Kuau for my first time some days ago. When I am windsurfing a new spot I typical have what I called a lot of fear factor advisers in my head. I don’t see the possibilities, and have a tendency to see the problems. I will make an article about how to deal with fear later on some day. As many readers know have Kuau a small channel with current, and when you come back in you have to stay to the left in the channel to stay out of the current who could take you out again. But for me I think I now have the swim record in this channel, swimming like I was in Olympic games or something, over rocks and everything, and I was back on the shore faster I could know, but with some wounds after meeting with some rocks. (glad I can follow my <a href="http://thehappysurfertormod.blogspot.com/search/label/Cuts%20and%20wounds">wounds articles</a>) :-)<br />I had so much support that day on the beach, everybody was supporting me to have a good time out there, my friends Jorgen, <a href="http://www.wavesandpowder.blogspot.com/">Sigurd</a> and <a href="http://www.boardriderscard.com/pascal/">Pascal</a> and <a href="http://www.mauitouch.com/">Nadia</a> and more.<br /><div style="text-align: center;">Jørgen swimming in the channel:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTBbr_Pn-qn3TAlL_7DxCFNyjZ8Uta_NAx3na800ubYsgGgRSKv7QGF1C-_xa3-hJ0NprimyIWNGW0nM8LbVkatZRRiYg44e814iXs4F2z6xC75JQEGPm0-3AjlyTwHdIGk5As02R9u_U/s1600-h/Jorgen+in+the+channel.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTBbr_Pn-qn3TAlL_7DxCFNyjZ8Uta_NAx3na800ubYsgGgRSKv7QGF1C-_xa3-hJ0NprimyIWNGW0nM8LbVkatZRRiYg44e814iXs4F2z6xC75JQEGPm0-3AjlyTwHdIGk5As02R9u_U/s400/Jorgen+in+the+channel.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397575740092377922" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Next day I was out at Kuau again, now without all the fear factor advisers, the central brain have fired them, and the swim back to the shore was like a Sunday swim in a calm sea. I was also on Uppers (upper Kanaha) one day, but the wind was a bit to offshore and really gusty. The waves was kind of side on, and for me it was hard to do anything fun in them with a to small board and small sail, 4,7km and 80 liter board. I was also almost out on Ho’okipa one day in small wind swell. I had all my gear tuned up, but when I forced my selves to go out the wind went a bit to gusty and to offshore after a bit of rain, so I decided that the conditions maybe not would give me the good feelings out there. I hope my time for Ho’okipa will come later on. I also got a lot of supportive words from <a href="http://www.jake-miller.com/">Jake Miller</a> about going out there. My experience now is that there are so many friendly people all over Maui, also at Ho’okipa, smiling at you, support you, and want you to have a good time on the water. Yesterday my windsurfing friends Jorgen and Sigurd left Maui and are on their way back to Norway. It was so cool to stay here with them. So for me today I had a day without doing anything special. My body and mind really needed some rest. I have a mussel in my arm that hurt a bit so a day with rest was good.<br /><br />The forecast looks good now, in a couple of days we will probable have both wind and swell again. Lower Kanaha here I come…I look so forward windsurf there again on the familiar friendly spot, and take long rides from the channel and down to kite beach.<br /><br />I am now also writing on a new cool article I will post later on. I am a happy surfer anyway, I had my two weeks with intensive windsurf, sometimes in waves earlier this fall, but last two weeks no wind but plenty with waves and lots of spots to chose suitable conditions. I have surfed a lot earlier but last two days I entered a new level, and starting to be better in the takeoff. To day, two sessions with surf, a morning session and one in the evening. Later on I will buy the old board from Jorgen, a performance board with approximately the same shape as the board I rent now from Hi Tech. Always helpful John at <a href="http://www.surfmaui.com/">Hi Tech</a> are an expert to read between the lines about what you say and your wishes and skills and are a master to pick the right board for exactly for you. So here you are a solid implicit recommendation, If you come to Maui…… Hi Tech is the shop! no one above no one beside! ☺ But so far my ”new” board is at Dingking for repair after Jorgen have almost broken it by surf in big waves at hookipa.<br /></div><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeCuYRpBw5XU9rAX832dTHZN369WGAVE5NInrtFmMTbUWNbVQ1uLPK96PNyHvRKqVmA0PNFN5u5jlYt_jZeqfEWf98Pe6pBZXCifrFuTZ_JDv5VzhQHM24ykEtxiGGc3_MjMqNF0TwPxY/s1600-h/surf2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 255px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeCuYRpBw5XU9rAX832dTHZN369WGAVE5NInrtFmMTbUWNbVQ1uLPK96PNyHvRKqVmA0PNFN5u5jlYt_jZeqfEWf98Pe6pBZXCifrFuTZ_JDv5VzhQHM24ykEtxiGGc3_MjMqNF0TwPxY/s400/surf2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392739616800833426" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxm176lD9gHEEwBC6xMl5HqYM3h3lpFiS-HbS4eCFxS1pFNLz83mtOm1UUekGSADyxo09SYEbcnvpP1L8cNWd1eFRz9TH0wXuwEPh5ZCvlJCShuM6nrBioczIX6qAQkWXO6N4ESgqyvZs/s1600-h/surf1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxm176lD9gHEEwBC6xMl5HqYM3h3lpFiS-HbS4eCFxS1pFNLz83mtOm1UUekGSADyxo09SYEbcnvpP1L8cNWd1eFRz9TH0wXuwEPh5ZCvlJCShuM6nrBioczIX6qAQkWXO6N4ESgqyvZs/s400/surf1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392739898664100610" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">So here at Maui, more surf in a couple of days. And it work! But this time it has not be necessarily to use the toothbrush technique, and since the wounds are in a flat area I don’t want to brush out the thin skin witch is established during healing periods between surf and windsurf sessions. For a week ago I got a good advice from my doctor friend about use Aloe Vera in the wounds. Why? As I understand Aloe Vera help the skins to heal faster. But most of all Aloe Vera help you to cover the open wound from dirt and sand. The Aloe Vera also sort of breathe, so the wound get air witch in my opinion is good for the healing process.<br /><br />What do you do?<br /><br />In the evening:<br />Ok, so then in the evening you do it this way: Clean the wound with chlorhexidine and then add some Aloe Vera in the wound and If necessarily even some protection. But as in the first article about this I like it best without any band-aid.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUk5DazS3Vx32j0TsUwWmnoGvwUMV85DUyCRmbKhLxiLUK2CgieoTs2C-DLP9MkupwgGGUIrCLHTXIspV7DbhPzsnNudoYD4ee6_Lz5ORXndpsgUHQRZnj5bfeDCU2Tklo1Zdpqdq-BdE/s1600-h/wound.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 199px; height: 182px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUk5DazS3Vx32j0TsUwWmnoGvwUMV85DUyCRmbKhLxiLUK2CgieoTs2C-DLP9MkupwgGGUIrCLHTXIspV7DbhPzsnNudoYD4ee6_Lz5ORXndpsgUHQRZnj5bfeDCU2Tklo1Zdpqdq-BdE/s320/wound.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390499693331428002" border="0" /></a>Before surf or windsurf:<br />If you next day want to go windsurf or surf, add some more Aloe Vera in the wound and then a band-aid on top of it. I also now use windsurf shoes even when I go surfing to protect the wounds. The picture show how the marvelous Aloe Vera dirt/sand protection work. After the surf session when I took the band-aid of you clearly see the wound it selves is without any sand. To day I was out in the water again, but now without the Aloe Vera, like a control group situation. The consequence to day was that the wounds were full of sand after the surf session.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Good luck with your care and healing of cuts & wounds and hopefully it prevents you to stay out of the water. I repeat, I am not a doctor, this is just a text from own experienses!!</span><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-1514535104216133872009-10-08T00:21:00.019-10:002010-03-13T12:49:52.970-10:00Ho'okipa surf pictures and longboard surf at Paia Beachpark<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRQkm9TD9AmegATcx4_dk7QIDqBDWkif2ko9VFzKluPgUsDjgkJ_8DAbGrgWYiDiS0MZAHveEe4sDEyHtEGruRVM7QbWbpDfKf2lFAjPm5Ebv2FUTabr9ZMC1IGdWsXBRvLsdJsRtOr0Q/s1600-h/long+wave.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 151px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRQkm9TD9AmegATcx4_dk7QIDqBDWkif2ko9VFzKluPgUsDjgkJ_8DAbGrgWYiDiS0MZAHveEe4sDEyHtEGruRVM7QbWbpDfKf2lFAjPm5Ebv2FUTabr9ZMC1IGdWsXBRvLsdJsRtOr0Q/s400/long+wave.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390189632030830546" border="0" /></a>Another day with no wind at Maui. All of us here really hope for wind tomorrow. It would be cool, we have some nice little swell here right now. So to day was the day for surf. Jørgen was at Ho'okipa really early in the morning, and after that was Martin on with a SUP at Kuau. Later on the day was Sigurd and I at Paia Beachpark, and we both cashed some nice waves there on our longboards. It is almost one year since I was surfing at this spot. It was soo cool to be back!I just love to be out there in the water, and meet all the including and friendly people there. I am a smiling person, I think that is a advantage if you meet some locals on their spot. So therefore if you go out there with a smile, you get a smile back. :-) So here under we have a few of the pictures taken today when Martin and I had a photo session at my favorite spot for taking pictures at Ho'okipa.<br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Se at the picture how many cars there are parked there….. and believe me there was sometimes really crowded out there in the water. Every surfers was after the waves on a day like this without wind, in glassy waves, not messed up by the wind. Martin, found him selves at home right away at ho'okipa and made a parking like the locals do.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK6qqK3w7FOIxftPxa0cZH6w0Za0K8catrg-Nmq13tuxSzzDx4bz9_FPZpS4k8MnGDfhpngUbvR35lpvpJzYQsdYaQuZymZRdx4nevqp4oQ9IU85eXxiErp0h4E1z3L-5x4LsVBz0BFjI/s1600-h/M+at+H.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; I have had so much to do, and not so much time for blogging..I try to do better from now. Some people have started to ask..when are you going to write more on your blog? My friend Dag was here together with me in almost 2 weeks. And we have really scored well in windsurfing. I have been on the water about every day in 2 weeks in raw and used all my gear both my 80 l quarto quad and my 95 liter quarto quad. I have also used all my sails about equally much with range of sails 4,2 4,7 and 5,3 m2. Some days the wind has been extremely strong and even really over powered with my 4,2. And a new experience I have had with the quad is that they not get so floaty even when I am sailing overpowered. Earlier in really strong wind on a single find I sometimes had the experience of that the smallest of my two different size of fins was to big and then a uncontrolled board because of to big fin. My experience now is that the quads give more range independent of the wind. I have also now started to figure out how to keep up in the wind. I will later blog more about this in my quad articles. I have now also sort of collected new, interesting information about quad who is really in harmony with my experience…but about that later on!<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">So far it has only been one day with waves in god size. But It has been some small but cool swell at lower Kanaha, and as told my new boards give the opportunity to have fun in, and make the most of even small waves.<br /><br />2/3 of <a href="http://www.goyanorge.no/">Goyanorway</a> have now arrived with <a href="http://www.wavesandpowder.blogspot.com/">Sigurd</a> and Jorgen. It is soo cool to have them here. They are always so enthusiastic and supportive with a lot of useful clues about how to tune up the gear in the best ways. They live at the same place as me. The enthusiastic Terje Tuft has also arrived Maui, and later on today the always smiling enthusiastic and helpful <a href="http://gallery.me.com/martinhaglev">Martin Haglev</a> from <a href="http://www.star-board.com/2010/company/behindthescene.php">StarBoard</a> arrived as well. Later on even more Norwegian to come! This will for sure be a windsurf party time for all of us.<br /><br />Yesterday was Sigurd and I on the water at lower K, with our biggest gear, for me 95 liter and 5,3 sail. Even in light wind and small waves we manage to catch some few waves and had some cool rides. We was sometimes totally alone at the reef.. al the small waves for our selves. It was not any paricular good day with so little wind but is was so cool to stay out there again with Sigurd and it brought up memories from 2007 when we were here together last time.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJnN4yphptf6VPdEqeC4V-ZVXx_s2Y6LYTtAsfNZH9LC9U9o4G4Hh1IfvXY-TilmqoTUBsC0_QN2bxlx5gHy8d0PFrQ4_YjmTim-SwllhUhg8MwCvE_RHKO4nmbv-b9yOjKZrEtKkBfPk/s1600-h/car.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 204px; height: 137px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJnN4yphptf6VPdEqeC4V-ZVXx_s2Y6LYTtAsfNZH9LC9U9o4G4Hh1IfvXY-TilmqoTUBsC0_QN2bxlx5gHy8d0PFrQ4_YjmTim-SwllhUhg8MwCvE_RHKO4nmbv-b9yOjKZrEtKkBfPk/s320/car.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5389761059638912002" border="0" /></a>So today is for me the first day without wind except the two first days at Maui where I anyway had so much practical things to do. To be honest it is ok with a day off. It is then time for clean up my car wish went a bit to mush smelly after a night with lots of rain, because the car is not completely tight.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2ShIo0n2Zm1sTYF5qWq0UWOjjBA00c1t2BPRpIDxf-XJTnMTf9QHTKMo0foPwnXoN21fgbPSRM8AmVY6uXCVaywsCcMNDJGDMEYQ2DBrXdKtFI1uM2cFh3GX6NNbAR5gCg83HsbI-Beg/s1600-h/wound.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10pt 10px 0px; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 205px; height: 155px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2ShIo0n2Zm1sTYF5qWq0UWOjjBA00c1t2BPRpIDxf-XJTnMTf9QHTKMo0foPwnXoN21fgbPSRM8AmVY6uXCVaywsCcMNDJGDMEYQ2DBrXdKtFI1uM2cFh3GX6NNbAR5gCg83HsbI-Beg/s320/wound.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5389762375265134066" border="0" /></a>I have also some typical wounds on some of my toes witch need some rest from water. So far the wounds are not infected, but they take extremely long time to heal. I sort of try to follow my <a href="http://thehappysurfertormod.blogspot.com/2009/08/how-to-deal-with-small-cuts-and-wounds.html">article about wounds</a>, and hope that helps. I also add some Aloe Vera in it, witch my doctor friend Dag told me should help the skin to heal fast, keep dust away from it, and even make the wound breathe.<br /><br /><br />So to day just a day of relaxing, fixing things, and to take some cool pix from the garden right in front of my room. I think it is some kind of salamanders.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAhZfxz55jxX8iVT4gMXb_K78aUU3sf8MCzErspt3jXlKDpKOPKv4iHBCE-71vfyLqsFWB5X1QY6G31_HcQJS_nCEJRPlVdMBA-CF_EfukOlDdyx3tr2Y6Davo_tQV1ya7_3VCPqYG4oU/s1600-h/Eksporter2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 284px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAhZfxz55jxX8iVT4gMXb_K78aUU3sf8MCzErspt3jXlKDpKOPKv4iHBCE-71vfyLqsFWB5X1QY6G31_HcQJS_nCEJRPlVdMBA-CF_EfukOlDdyx3tr2Y6Davo_tQV1ya7_3VCPqYG4oU/s320/Eksporter2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5389769765572124434" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlQm7lZZpbp-04gL8yyfrdBAr8c2tgEKIzYOLrMKMkXXvBESYZ2elEhpdpDsh6ViNtYKQtumR1slWoMCd21ojE4z83H7gVbQRVEVywQNrHexnYsCsrZEV-Gob2Qew0u7G2MmgSZJqs0ro/s1600-h/Salamander1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 219px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlQm7lZZpbp-04gL8yyfrdBAr8c2tgEKIzYOLrMKMkXXvBESYZ2elEhpdpDsh6ViNtYKQtumR1slWoMCd21ojE4z83H7gVbQRVEVywQNrHexnYsCsrZEV-Gob2Qew0u7G2MmgSZJqs0ro/s320/Salamander1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5389769952450751618" border="0" /></a><br /><br />The windsurfing pix under is of two starboard windsurfers at ho’okipa some days ago..I think it was 28.09<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwNTkHEINkSi7ZmKEwUtm5lxqVa0eolVJAlAUYONNUD1UJ4jfQpoFP56xeAhr7Z_SBpqyMh8LCxj4HxVnHwJHdUBpjHTaPG0JD61rdb96UxVcJc6ij6E9biJ7oA59Dotkbol74mHB6FiQ/s1600-h/Ho'okipa+28.09.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 421px; height: 270px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwNTkHEINkSi7ZmKEwUtm5lxqVa0eolVJAlAUYONNUD1UJ4jfQpoFP56xeAhr7Z_SBpqyMh8LCxj4HxVnHwJHdUBpjHTaPG0JD61rdb96UxVcJc6ij6E9biJ7oA59Dotkbol74mHB6FiQ/s320/Ho'okipa+28.09.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5389766436057720242" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-16309147034922835602009-09-29T22:35:00.012-10:002010-03-13T12:47:30.436-10:00Tsunami warning at Hawaii<div style="text-align: justify;">I woke up this morning with Tsunami warning. I later heard that if the tsunami should hit Maui it would hit the south part, and I am at north shore. But I have a friend here, Dag ,now staying in Kihei with not so many ”locals” around him as me, so I warned him about it. For sure I took the warning seriously and even if a tsunami should hit south part of the island it could also have influence on the sea at north shore as well. But I then heard on the radio that the warning was canceled. So then I headed Kanaha. But when I was windsurfing at Kanaha it was so few people out there. And suddenly I was alone on the reef. Is this maui, is this kanaha who suppose to be so crowded. I sometimes did a tack or jybe right in front of the lifeguard tower, but they did not made me any attention, so I thought everything is ok. After a while I went into to the beach, then there was some few people putting their gear up. Then My friend Dag arrived, a bit surprised that I had been windsurfing today. After a while I was then on the water again, now together with Dag, and about 5 other windsurfers. The wind was really strong sometimes over powered with 4,2. There was not so big waves at the reef today, but big enough to get me washes after a cutback up in the lip who come over me. When I come home I then heard that all the beaches had been closed today? Strange? I couldn’t see any sign on that the beach was closed and as told the lifeguard did not pay me any extra attention. The Italian blogger giampaolo has written about it here with links to news: <a href="http://mauisurfreport.blogspot.com/2009/09/indonesia.html">Mauisurfreport</a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-82337397175831073812009-09-28T17:46:00.004-10:002010-03-13T12:47:13.412-10:00Ho'okipa 28.09.09<div style="text-align: justify;">After 5 days in a row with windsurfing in waves, mostly small waves, my body needed a rest. I have been on for several sessions these days from around 11 o’clock until afternoon. Then it was time for a day with relax and then some photoshoot at Ho'okipa.<br /></div><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.com&captions=1&noautoplay=1&hl=en_GB&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=http%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fthehappywindsurfer%2Falbumid%2F5386724685746828641%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26hl%3Den_GB" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" height="400" width="600"></embed>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-83767670222830084382009-09-27T22:34:00.011-10:002010-03-14T14:47:48.440-10:00Test of quad windsurfing board part 2<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaasaajlbkhZIXoYu_wSGi-OLD2o-pZFZbFnOIDlemqVWG__uXUQ51JZM7roJeD8mFKYk5DwIdI7oHxdz45XA38keBymM8If0I-ZH_-i2evGSPZ8N08Q4U74epF1tozc2SZdB2Voc6xBQ/s1600-h/quads.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 315px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaasaajlbkhZIXoYu_wSGi-OLD2o-pZFZbFnOIDlemqVWG__uXUQ51JZM7roJeD8mFKYk5DwIdI7oHxdz45XA38keBymM8If0I-ZH_-i2evGSPZ8N08Q4U74epF1tozc2SZdB2Voc6xBQ/s400/quads.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386437421650435218" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">How quad works in onshore conditions?</span><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I have got questions by mail from some readers who wonder how quads works in onshore conditions. Before I try to give a constructive answer on that, I really recommend you to contact <a href="http://www.ocean4hawaii.com/">Ocean4Hawii</a> with specific questions. I think I almost have the record there with amount of mails to them about the boards. They are so pro and helpful. For me after a lot of mails about lot of details, they sort of analyzed my windsurfing style, and for sure they really managed to build two boards I now am really starting to Love. The boards are so on my team all the time.<br /><br />First of all my quad customs is ordered to work good at Kanaha in sideshore waves up to logo and mast high. But ok, I try to imagine how they will work in onshore conditions. When I am back home I usually windsurf in onshore or shoppy small waves conditions. So far I think the quads I have will work extremely well in onshore conditions. Why? If you want to ride small or onshore waves the quad board give you possibility to turn very fast, and you can therefore utilize even small waves or shoppy waves who disappear fast. So about waveriding in onshore conditions, I think quad is absolutely perfect.<br /><br />But, as written in post 1 I still have a slightly feeling of that <span>MY</span> boards is a bit difficult to go up winded with. And as we know the capacity to stay upwinded is sometimes even more important in onshore conditions. I am now getting better to it with some adjustment on my sailing. And for sure I now know that so much of the reason to end up downwinded is that the boards really want you to go down the line, even if the wave are small. The reason for the feeling of not have the possibility of stay upwinded is maybe because of that my old JP rww 76 Liter had a really fast rocker, and was really easy to hold up in plane and upwinded, but as told the rww was really crappy in waves and now I more and more not anymore not consider it as a waveboard, but more like a freerideboard. My boards now have probable not so fast rocker so I have to work more with the speed and then also work with it to stay upwinded.<br />Anyway If you order a custom and are going to use the board mostly in onshore condition you just tell that in mail to ocean4 hawaii.<br /><br />I will later on test out the boards at Sprecks, witch have more onshore conditions. If I experience something new I will for sure write about it.<br /><br />There will be a part3 about quad later on in some days!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxF8QsXEttmBh_r_sg8_JzIZOamoUt74kpvFwnAHJ4OZ4LVF40qyVoxPKHUuAU6tFihL6qruK-8lETIqxlQnONwJVqUohMLYJVx8gStVxbVv_CJWT3K9bWni1igmg6Ci1fqfDoeMA1pWE/s1600-h/IMG_9785.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxF8QsXEttmBh_r_sg8_JzIZOamoUt74kpvFwnAHJ4OZ4LVF40qyVoxPKHUuAU6tFihL6qruK-8lETIqxlQnONwJVqUohMLYJVx8gStVxbVv_CJWT3K9bWni1igmg6Ci1fqfDoeMA1pWE/s400/IMG_9785.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386459697181645186" border="0" /></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4269145896495641424.post-41527266472420991262009-09-26T22:33:00.020-10:002010-03-13T12:46:31.230-10:00Big Ho’okipa 25.09.09I have now finished even more albums from the photo session yesterday. Maybe it is a bit many pictures, but I think it is cool to show hole sequences, as an inspiration of waveraiding. In the Ho’okipa album you also see Keith on the rocks after doing some really radical waveriding. After some short washing around in the rocks, He sailed out..I am impressed.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Robby Naish Ho'okipa wave pictures sequense2</span> <span style="font-weight: bold;">25.09.09</span><br /></div><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.com&hl=en_GB&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=http%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fthehappywindsurfer%2Falbumid%2F5385708528822340753%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26hl%3Den_GB" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" height="400" width="600"></embed><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;" yle="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Ho'okipa 25.09.09</span><br /></div><br /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" width="600" height="400" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.com&captions=1&noautoplay=1&hl=en_GB&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=http%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fthehappywindsurfer%2Falbumid%2F5385703330447649009%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26hl%3Den_GB" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Kieth Teboul ho'okipa wave sequence pictures</span><br /></div><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" width="600" height="400" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.com&noautoplay=1&hl=en_GB&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=http%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fthehappywindsurfer%2Falbumid%2F5385693583994002737%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26hl%3Den_GB" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed>The pictures is from yesterday. But today I had a day off from my camera. Sailed with my new quad 80 liter and 4,7 sail at Lower Kanaha had good wind and some nice waves witch was smaller then yesterday. The wind messed up the waves a bit. But down to the kitebeach witch I now often end up with the super nice wave addicted super riding board, the waves was cleaner. I must later go on with write more about my experience with quad…I just love the boards, they are so in harmony with me, and make me ride waves like I never did before. I also met Pio from <a href="http://www.mauifin.com/">Maui fin company (MFC)</a> today. He was at Kanaha to test out quads in the waves there. He also gave me some god advices in waveriding with the quad boards. You can push it really hard was one of the things he told me, next to the possibilities to stay up in the waves with quad. After a brake I really tried to push it more in the bottom turn. I feel total grip all the time, and I just know I am far far away from the limits. Keep up follow the blog.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
